From time to time ICECS manages projects which are designed to demonstrate the effectiveness of Community Schools.
ICECS has a new project funded under the UK Big Lottery Fund, Awards for All programme. The grant will fund the development of very practical and easy to follow health materials for parents with young children. We will work with the staff at a Children’s Centre serving a very deprived area in the UK and then with parents to ensure that the materials are appropriate. Health literacy – understanding health messages, being able to follow diet advice, knowing how to find a doctor, understanding how to administer medicines and when is not easily understood by many families, and especially those from deprived communities where literacy and numeracy levels might be poor. These materials will be easy to read and will suggest to parents simple activities that they can do with their children.
You can find the materials in our resources section.
